Time to look pretty in pink <3
Today’s mini lookbook is inspired by the one and only Elle Woods, of Legally Blonde. What better way to start off a fashion blog & newsletter than with one of the most iconic stylish characters to date?
But I’m getting ahead of myself! What exactly is a mini lookbook in this context? Well, a mini lookbook is essentially a collection of articles of clothing from all over the internet, inspired by or directly replicating fits from beloved film & tv characters. For example, today’s lookbook is an ‘inspired by’, so it isn’t recreating any one specific Elle Woods outfit (but that could very well come in the future!)
So strap in, babes! It’s time to look pretty in pink!
We’re starting off bold with this Collective the Label Co-ord in Pop Pink, available exclusively on ASOS. The nicest thing about this piece is that, as a co-ord, you can opt to just buy one element—or get both and mix-and-match them! For example, this top would look lovely paired with some white, flowy trousers.
Up next is this lovely Clear Trench Coat from Sugar Thrillz, available to buy on Dolls Kill. The faux fur here really elevates this coat, and that soft pink is simply divine. In terms of styling, something pink or purple underneath is definitely the way to go. And probably best to skip out on dark trousers or jeans with this one!
This IBB Heart Pendant Necklace is sterling silver, and available to buy (online only) from John Lewis. Not only is it very similar to the one Elle wears in the movie, it’s a lot more affordable and even has customization options! It goes with pretty much anything, too!
This Fuschia Split Sleeve Midi Dress from Boohoo is certainly on the simple side, but the use of the splits in the sleeves and side of the dress give it a touch of flare. Its simplicity also makes it an excellent base to work off of for belts, jewellery, more showy shoes and big coats to play with silhouette!
Since we’ve just seen a dress, have another! This Blazer Dress in Hot Pink from Boohoo definitely has the vibe of something that Elle Woods would wear in the courtroom. This piece would match especially well with some strappy stilettos, and even a pearl necklace if you’re feeling really luxurious (and good for you)!
Switching it up with these Feather Heels from Fashion Nova! I thought we could do with a softer pink (though Elle doesn’t particularly wear more subtle pinks!) and these shoes were perfect! Maybe don’t wear them in the rain, though.
Last but not least is this super nice Recycled Wrap Top from Nasty Gal! This would be super fun to play around with in terms of patterned bottoms, interesting jackets and quirky jewellery!
So! That’s been my first mini lookbook (and post!) The main point of these mini lookbooks is to inspire you, and just to be a lot of fun! I have lots of plans for both ‘inspired by’ and ‘recreating’ mini lookbooks, and it’s been really cool imagining different outfits based on a few articles of clothing and, of course, the iconic Elle Woods.
